This is arguably one of the best 16mm cameras ever engineered and the best for handholding; designed to be used on the shoulder from the word go. It also has easy magazines to load and change, as most of the threading can be done in daylight. We’ve had this camera from new and it’s always been well maintained, so we decided to keep it, as most of the 16mm cameras still left are worse for wear. There are still some occasions when people want a film look, and what better way of achieving it than shooting on film?

Aaton XTR PROD is one of the best super 16mm film camera ever made designed for sync sound and handheld shooting. When released it revolutionised documentary film making with its silent operation and balance centre of gravity.
We keep one running for people who like the film look, and the best way of achieving that is to shoot on film. Shooting on 16mm film has become a lot more affordable of late with the introduction of stock, process and TK deals such as Fuji’s Complete 16 and Kodak’s Sweet 16. This camera is mainly used for arts projects, short films and vérité documentaries. (See Skateistan, To Live and Skate Kabul, the award-winning documentary shot by Franklin Dow)
